In this Master Course we will study the rarely taught Chapters 3 and 4 of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and then dive fully into the Bhagavad Gita. The last half of the Sutras is full of mystique and misperception, which is why it is rarely taught or discussed without error. After some deep comprehension about the levels of Samadhi, we will explore the different siddhis (supernatural powers) described and how to be free of their temptation to liberate our soul. We will then learn about the colorful backstory of the Gita and comb through chapters of this beautiful text, discovering how its message from thousands of years ago can still be an aid to us now.
The tools from both sacred texts will be woven into the Tantric practices of asana, pranayama and meditation so that the philosophy becomes a guide for how to live, on the mat and in our community.
This six-day course, in addition to some homework of reading and one written assignment at the end, consist of 50 hours of Continuing Education with Yoga Alliance. Yoga students should have at least one year of practice in order to attend.
